ABSTRACT

Lhermitte-Duclos disease (LDD) is a type of rare brain tumor located in posterior fossa. A patient with LDD located in the left cerebellum and vermis was admitted by the Department of Neurosurgery, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. MRI scan showed slightly heterogeneous enhancement at the region close to vermis. The patient underwent partial resection on August 11, 2016 without postoperative chemoradiotherapy. The progress free survival was 11 months and the overall survival was 17 months. What the case reveals is that the partial resection is not beneficial to these patients with LDD as the residual lesion probably recurs in a short term after operation. The pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of LDD are explored and summarized in combination with relevant literature.

ABSTRACT

Ovarian teratoma is agynecological disease, which has been found to be closely related to antiNMDA receptor encephalitis in recent years.Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis is a kind of autoimmune encephalitis. Its etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment are still not clear, and the disease has various clinical manifestations and special test methods, which are often ignored by clinicians. The prognosis is poor if the best treatment timing is missed,so early treatment is very important. At present, the main treatment methods include surgical treatment and immunotherapy. Most people can be cured, but the disease has a certain recurrence rate. The recurrence mechanism and treatment need further investigation.Reports on maternal anti-NMDAR encephalitis are rare, but we need to pay lots of attention to it as it is related to maternal and fetal outcomes.

ABSTRACT

Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) are stable and toxic by-products of non-enzymatic metabolic reaction of proteins, lipids and nucleotides. The elevated serum AGEs level in pregnant women is strongly associated with hyperglycemia, oxidative stress and insulin resistance and may be one of the cause for the onset and development of the gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).This review mainly focuses on the pathogenesis of AGEs and GDM.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of corpectomy decompression by subtotal vertebrectomy and fusion of adjacent segmental artificial disc replacement through anterior intervertenral spance (Hybrid Surgery) in the anteriorcervical spondylotic myelopathy treatment . Methods Hybrid Surgery were operated on 18 patients who suffered from anterior cervi?cal spondylotic myelopathy . Follow up of 1-50 months. Patient’s conditions were assessed according to the Japanese Associ?ation for Department of orthopedics assessment score (JOA score) before and after operation. Effects of Hybrid operation were assessed by the improvement of JOA score, Odom’s follow-up grade and cervical mobility . Results The JOA scores of all 18 operated patients were improved from 10.6 ± 1.7 before operation to 13.5 ± 2.4 after operation. And the difference is statistically significant (t=1.314, P 0.05). Conclusion Hybrid Surgery of anterior cervical decompression and fusion can both improve the nerve function and preserve cervical mobility.
